Severe Weather/Heavy Snow has been reported throughout the South East Region of the UK, therefore deliveries including premiums and collections will be affected.

Leeds (50) have advised that due to heavy snowfall and icy conditions throughout their region, some deliveries, particularly to rural areas may be affected.

Knaresborough (48) have advised that the A1M is closed due to accidents and severe ice which has resulted in traffic congestion on all surrounding roads. Road conditions are very icy, all routes are affected due to the traffic congestion getting out of the depot.

Exeter (15/115) have advised that the A377 between the A30 and the centre of Exeter is going to be closed/having road repairs for the next 5 weeks, resulting in traffic diversions and expected congestion, therefore deliveries to EX4 and possibly EX1 and EX2 will be affected.

There hasbeen some speculation and comment on media and social networking platforms withregard to the positive changes that have taken place at Trust Media over thelast two weeks and I wanted to take the opportunity to write to you,personally, explaining thesechanges and giving you clarity as to our future direction.

Acquisition of Trust Media – You will have seen that I recentlyacquired the Carlisle-based activities of the John Ritchie business from TheLord's Work Trust. This embraces all of the Trust Media Distribution businessand Penfold Card & Gift. I am pleased to underline that thistransaction has facilitated a strong financial position and investment fundsfor the future development of Trust Media. I would also like to clarify thatTrust Media will continue to be the exclusive wholesale partner for JohnRitchie Ltd distributing all of their published content to the UK trade.
Cost base review – As part of the privatisation planand our reduced focus on UK content it was imperative that we review our costbase to ensure that our strong financial position is maintained. This reviewhas been carried out in an appropriate and sensitive manner with our staff andwill reach a conclusion in the next few days. We have planned this necessary reductionin head count carefully and sought at all times to minimize the number of rolesaffected. We believe that this process will have no impact on our support foryour business or continued high levels of service. This is, however, adifficult time for those who are impacted and we do ask that as this processconcludes you would uphold those affected in prayer.
TrustMedia is fully committed to the Christian trade and will continue to focus onand improve its service to Christian retailers. However, in the currenteconomic climate it is essentialthat the business has the necessary breadth and focus on other marketopportunities that will allow us to strengthen our profitability and ensurecontinuity of service to your ministry. With this in mind we have in recentmonths expanded our card and gift offering into the secular market withencouraging results. This expansion facilitates stronger relationships withmanufacturers who we rely on for Christian content and adds value to and complimentsour Christian product range. UKwholesale supplier review - We recently completed a review of our UKsupplier base and have concluded that we will reduce the number of suppliers wewill bring to market, confirmedUK publishers that we will be supplying in 2012 are Christian Education, Christian Focus Publications, Collins, Continuum,DayOne, Evangelical Press, Lion Hudson (Lion, Candle, Monarch and Baker) and Hodder & Stoughton.
USwholesale suppliers – We are also continuing to develop our US wholesalesupplier range, with 40 US publishers including Zondervan, Tyndale, Thomas Nelson, Harvest House, Crossway, NavPress,Moody, Random House (Waterbrook/Multnomah), B&H, Destiny Image (US &Europe), Gospel Light, Kregel, Whitaker House, Twin Sisters, Concordia, Group,Shepherd Press, Gospel Folio, Bardin & Marsee, AMG, YWAM, Lifeway, Dakeand many more.
DistributionSuppliers – I would also like to confirm that whilst we are making changesto the UK wholesale supplier base, we are continuing to build on our UKcontract distribution supplier base; including Authentic Media and BRF.
New Tradewebsite – Evidence of our ongoing investment and commitment to the trade isunderscored in the launch of our new trade website last weekend. We havereceived numerous positive comments and look forward to building on thisenhanced capability over coming weeks and months.
Stock – We have been focusing onimproving stock levels from publishers that we will continue to supply. We havein the last week received large quantities of stock from many of the supplierslisted above and you should see a subsequent strong level of availability withimmediate effect.

The new site has been developed to improve your experience and make ordering much easier for you! Using the much improved new search engine and easy-to-use navigation system, you can now locate products quickly and simply, and receive instant feedback on product availability. These new facilities enable you to browse our entire stock range effortlessly.

Improvements to Music Categories

Following a review of our subject categories, we have decided to rationalise our music categories to make them clearer and more consistent.

The main change will be to discontinue using categories with a supplier name and move these products into categories with a generic name e.g. M68 Praise & Worship. The full mapping is shown below and will take place on Thursday 12th January in time for the overnight data feeds to run for SyneRgi. We have some further work to do on one category, M40 Integrity Music, which will map to a number of different categories.

We are confident that having a single category for each genre will make it simpler to find products using SyneRgi or the Trust Media Distribution website – making ordering easier for you!

SALE AND PRIVATISATION OF TRUST MEDIA DISTRIBUTION - BUSINESS AS USUAL!

Bill Stevely (Chairman of the Kilmarnock based charity The Lords Work Trust (LWT), parent of John Ritchie Ltd) and Ken Munro (Chief Executive of John Ritchie Ltd) are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of recent discussions entered into with a view to the sale and privatisation of the wholesale activities of John Ritchie Ltd (currently trading as Trust Media Distribution).

Under the terms of this agreement (reached and in effect as of 31st December 2011) LWT will retain ownership of the John Ritchie Ltd name, with its associated publishing activities, the Kilmarnock shop trading under the John Ritchie Name and the retail, web and mail order business based at that location. Ken Munro will assume ownership of the wholesale division based at Carlisle, Penfold Card and Gift and all other Carlisle based activity. This business will continue to trade as Trust Media Distribution.

Commenting on the sale, Bill Stevely said, “After a period of significant restructuring and consolidation Trust Media is now positioned for success. The Trust whilst not retaining ownership of the wholesale business will still benefit from its ongoing success and importantly this transaction releases the business to pursue its new more focussed distribution strategy and build on its exciting recent entry into the secular card and gift market. In the current climate adding this breadth to the business is vital”.

Ken Munro commented, “This transaction facilitates the further strengthening and future security of Trust Media Distribution. Our focus as recently outlined on wholesaling our strong and broad range of US publishers, targeted UK publishers, Christian and secular card and gift and continued physical and digital distribution contracts will be the foundation of our future success. In addition, I want to underscore the commitment of the newly privatised Trust Media to the provision of excellent customer service and high levels of responsiveness. Our effectiveness in meeting customer need and moving swiftly to satisfy rapidly changing market demands will be the measure of our success.”

Delivery update Thursday 5th Jan

Our UK delivery service (FedEx) has given us the news update below.

Chester (41/141) have advised that due to severe weather throughout their region, some deliveries may be affected, in particular:- SY21 postcodes due to flooding and burst river banks, LL67 due to fallen trees and LL58 -- LL78 in Anglesey.

Belfast (64) have advised that due to severe weather on the Irish Sea all freight exiting Parkhouse and Marston Gate will not arrive at the depot until later today, thereby incurring a 24 hour delay.

Harlow (23) have advised that a tree has fallen in the Hatfield Broadoak area, resulting in the closure of the road and congestion on surrounding routes, therefore deliveries, including premiums for postcodes CM21 to CM23 and Stansted Airport will be affected. They have also advised that there are several trees have fallen in CB10 and CB11 postcodes, therefore deliveries will be affected.

Dartford (5) have advised that due to high winds the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge has been closed, resulting in major congestion in the surrounding areas. Therefore some deliveries to DA, BR and SE postcodes will be affected.

Channel Islands (4 & 6) have advised that due to the continuing storm force 8 to 9 winds today’s ship has been unable to dock in either Guernsey or Jersey, therefore all consignments onboard will incur a 24 hour delay.

Newcastle (56/156) have advised that due to a RTA resulting in the closure of the Tyne Tunnel, some deliveries including premiums will be affected to postcodes:- NE12, NE13, NE20, NE23 -- NE29, NE61, NE63, NE65, NE66, NE98, NE99

Isle of Man (53) have advised that The Isle Of Man Steam Packet have just confirmed the cancellations of the following sailings due to adverse weather conditions in the Irish Sea:-
Heysham to Douglas at 02:15hrs
The following sailings on subject to possible disruption/cancellation.
Douglas to Heysham at 08:45hrs & Heysham to Douglas at 14:15hrs

Our UK delivery service (FedEx) has given us the news update below.

Gretna (54), Edinburgh (85), Cumbernauld (60) and Glasgow (71/171) have reported heavy snowfall throughout their regions, therefore deliveries will be affected.

Swansea (98/28) have advised that Tata Steel based in Port Talbot are now not receiving deliveries until the New Year. Anything that needs to be delivered must have a contact name and mobile contact number.

Aberdeen (62) have advised that they still have snow and ice in the Grampian area with further heavy snow forecast today, therefore some deliveries will be affected.

Aberdeen (69) have advised that further ferry disruptions and cancellations are forecast for this week, therefore deliveries will be affected.

Isle of Man (53) have advised that further ferry disruptions and cancellations are forecast for this week, and the backlog as a result of the previous disruptions is currently one day behind.

Wednesday deliveries - FedEx update

Our UK delivery service (FedEx) has given us the news update below.

Launceston (16/72/81/172) have advised that due to the severe weather being experienced on the A30, some deliveries to TR postcodes may be affected.

Gloucester (26) have advised that due to the RTA on the M5 last night and its subsequent closure, widespread traffic congestion is being experienced, therefore deliveries to Gloucester and Cheltenham may be affected.

Belfast (64) have advised that due to adverse weather conditions the ferry sailings have been delayed, therefore any freight exiting Parkhouse and Marston Gate will incur a 24 hour delay.

Chorley (51) have advised that due to a RTA on the A6 into Lancaster resulting in severe congestions, deliveries to LA1 postcodes will be affected.

Littleborough (90) have advised that their bulk vehicle covering BD postcodes has broken down, therefore deliveries will be affected.

Exeter (15/115) have advised that they are currently experiencing heavy snowfall in North Devon, therefore deliveries to EX20, EX21, EX22, EX31–EX38 will be affected.

Channel Islands (4 & 6) have advised that due to severe weather today’s ferry sailing will be running at least eight hours behind schedule. Therefore all deliveries arriving by surface freight for Areas 4 & 6 will incur a 24 hour delay, this will remain constant for the remainder of the week.

Swansea (98/28) have advised that Tata Steel based in Port Talbot are now not receiving deliveries until the New Year. Anything that needs to be delivered must have a contact name and mobile contact number.

Aberdeen (69) have advised that further ferry disruptions and cancellations are forecast for this week, therefore deliveries will be affected.

Isle of Man (53) have advised that further ferry disruptions and cancellations are forecast for this week, and the backlog as a result of the previous disruptions is currently one day behind.

Hornsey (96/196) have advised that due to a RTA and an incident resulting in heavy congestion being experienced, some deliveries to N4 postcodes will be affected.

Gretna (54) have advised that due to gale force winds and flooding, deliveries and collections to CA, TD, DG and LA postcodes will be affected.

Kilmarnock (59) have advised that due to the severe weather warning in Ayrshire, many schools have closed for the day, therefore deliveries will be affected.

Glasgow (71/171) have advised that they are anticipating severe winds and rain throughout their region today, which may result in localised flooding, therefore deliveries may be affected.

Aberdeen (62) have advised that they are experiencing high winds and very heavy rain in low lying areas and snow on the higher ground, therefore some deliveries will be affected.

Cumbernauld (60) have advised that they are anticipating severe winds of up to 100 mph in the area today which has already impacted on schools being closed along with the probability of many other businesses also closing early/not opening at all, there is also a warning of impending snow blizzards later today.some bridges are closing affecting the Helensburgh area deliveries and possibly others too. Therefore some deliveries will be affected.

Review of UK Supplier Base – update

Trust Media announced a review of its UK supplier base on the 24th October. We are pleased to confirm Trust Media is continuing to supply the following suppliers: Collins, CFP, EP, Hodder and a number of others which we will be announcing in the near future. Discussions are ongoing with many other suppliers and we hope to have conclusions on these in the next few weeks.

At the start of the review it was our intention to continue with the supply of UK publishers through to the end of 2011, however, from 1st December 2011 we will no longer be supplying the following publishers to the trade: Scripture Union, CWR (including dated materials), Kevin Mayhew, IVP, Church House Publishing, St Andrew Press and SCM Canterbury Press. Pendings for these suppliers will be cancelled and orders placed after 1st December will not be fulfilled.

We would like to express our thanks to all of the suppliers we have partnered with over recent years and stress these changes are a reflection of the implementation of our new business strategy and are necessary to ensure continued improvement in our service to customers and suppliers alike.

By making these changes we are continuing to build on the foundation of planned development put in place over the past year as a clear part of our future business strategy, which includes:

Operation Christmas Child

Once again, this year Trust Media Distribution’s warehouse in Carlisle is being used as a checking point for the Samaritan’s Purse initiative, Operation Christmas Child.

Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s Christmas project, bringing joy into the lives of children since 1990. Last year, almost 1.12million shoeboxes filled with gifts and goodies were packed by children and adults in the UK and sent to children who need them most in some of the toughest parts of the world.

This year shoeboxes are being collected from a number of drop off points across Cumbria including churches, schools and toy shops and a team of dedicated volunteers will work for the next 2 weeks checking the boxes and then packing them up ready to be collected and shipped to needy children across Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

One of the volunteers said,

“We’re pleased to be able to use Trust Media’s warehouse again this year The assistance from staff has been invaluable in continuing to make a difference to the lives of needy children across the world.”

We have made an improvement to our invoices to make it easier for you to see the information you require at a glance. The two changes are:

The pack size is included in a separate column after the description – this is especially necessary now that we have such a large range of gift product available, much of which is sold in multi-packs.

Where the unit price is not the RRP (i.e. when there is an offer price) we now show the RRP in brackets in a separate column to the left of the unit price. Visually this means there is an obvious prompt to see where offer prices apply, which is why we are not showing the RRP on every single line.

UK Wholesale Review – Christmas supply unaffected

We are committed to making changes to supply in the New Year ensuring minimal disruption and a high level of service during this period.

Trust Media to review its UK supplier base

Over the past 18 months Trust Media Distribution has continued to deliver a consistently high level of service to over 2000 trade accounts and to meet its industry leading service level agreements (same-day-despatch, invoice accuracy, delivery success). However, an area of service which has been under pressure due to our evolving business model is availability. The supply of more than 30,000 lines from over 200 UK wholesale suppliers is proving impractical on a go-forward basis and, more importantly, has resulted in fluctuating availability which, in turn, has resulted in frustration to the trade in terms of supply.

In light of the issues outlined above, Trust Media is conducting a review of its supply base with the objective of enhancing its service to the trade and improving its trading relationship with suppliers. As a result of this review, it is expected that the wide range of UK publishers currently represented through Trust Media will be reduced significantly, enabling focus on a smaller number of suppliers and ultimately delivering more effective service to its retail customers.

An updated list of publishers that Trust Media will continue to supply will be made available upon the completion of the review. It’s envisaged that this review will conclude at the beginning of November and that the changes to supply will be concluded by mid January 2012.

There will be no significant changes to supply until the New Year and so Christmas supply will remain largely unaffected. We are committed to making changes to supply in the New Year ensuring minimal disruption and a high level of service during this period.

This review is necessary to ensure that Trust Media Distribution can improve its service to both customers and suppliers alike. By making this change Trust Media is continuing to build on the foundation of planned development put in place over the past year, including:

Sharing God's Love in Uganda

Staff from Beacon Books, Llandudno recently went on a mission trip to Uganda taking with them a box of Penfold’s Share God’s Love Squeeze Balls. Marian writes:

“It’s hard to believe how much a little ball can mean to a child who has nothing. As soon as we started distributing the balls, there were smiles all round and they were immediately being thrown into the air accompanied by shouts and laughter.

"We were visiting a school which has classrooms but little else, just a few posters, blackboard, and teachers who are so committed that they are accepting utterly minimal wages. There are no desks, no exercise books or stationery and yet the children’s singing and desire to learn was incredible.

"We are now trying to find sponsors at £15 a month for the 170 children attending the school so that the teachers can receive a proper wage and are therefore more likely to stay. We are also trying to raise funds for desks, stationery, etc.

"The balls were a great success, and did 'what it says on the tin' – share God’s love.”

Revised Sales Territories

As a consequence of the recent re-structuring at Trust Media Distribution, our field sales team will now consist of five Area Sales Managers. Whilst this is a reduction of one from our previous level we are confident that this new structure, along with a newly developed Call Centre Team (previously the Customer Services Department) will provide you with improved service levels.
Each Area Sales Managers (ASM) will be partnered with a member of the Call Centre Team who will work in support of the ASM to provide you with an additional level of support and to deal with sales and general service enquiries. The Call Centre Team will come under the Sales Division and as such will have a much more ‘product and sales focused’ role as well as fulfilling the standard customer service functions.
The revised sales territories are set out below and if you have not already heard from your new ASM they will be in contact with you in due course. They will also advise you of their Call Centre Team partner along with their contact details.
We are confident that these changes will enhance the service offered by Trust Media Distribution and we look forward to serving you in the months and years ahead under these new structures.

PDF Invoices
Following positive feedback from trial stores we have implemented PDF invoicing for all Christian Bookstores where we have an email address stored. This way bookstores will be able to see clearly which products have been despatched and which, if any, have gone to backorder. Improving availability at STL Distribution

In recent weeks we have been working hard on improving our stock availability. As part of this work, our main focus has been on the more popular selling titles – we call them category 1 & 2 (core stock and bestsellers) – which make up a significant proportion of the lines our customers require. Our goal is to fulfil over 90% of lines ordered from these categories and, with this in mind, we have seen a marked improvement in our availability and achieved that goal last week.

As you will be aware, it is a continual process to ensure we have the right titles in stock at the right time; we recognise that this is by no means perfect. Our core stock and bestsellers may be different to yours and there will be areas where we still have gaps. So please don’t hesitate to make us aware of where we need to strengthen our stock range by speaking with our Customer Services team or your Area Sales Manager; they will gladly receive your feedback and pass on to the supply chain team, who will bring stock in as appropriate.

The Titanic struck the iceberg at 23.40 on the night of the 14th April, 1912, sinking the following morning.
